What Are Crowns And Bridges?
Crowns
A dental crown functions like a helmet that protects a weakened natural tooth.
Most often used to treat cracked teeth and protect root canal treated teeth, it can also be appropriate for aesthetic reasons.
Bridges
A dental bridge typically consists of an artificial tooth (pontic) between 2 crowned teeth.
It is a good option when the size of the gap is small, or if implant surgery is not suitable.

What is the process to get a restorative crown or bridge?
It usually takes 3 visits.
- Initial consult:
We determine the condition of your teeth and explain your options.
- Crown preparation:
On the 2nd visit, we prepare the crown to receive the prosthesis by shaving your existing tooth to make room for the crown. We then take an impression of your teeth to create a custom prosthesis. You will have a temporary acrylic crown in the until it is ready.
- Cementation:
Our dentists fit the crown onto your tooth (or adjacent teeth for a bridge), and will be fixed in place with a dental cement.
Is it painful to get a crown done?
As part of our commitment to make treatment as comfortable and pain-free for you, we will administer local anaesthetic injections during the crown preparation visit.
Most of our patients report mild to no discomfort over the next few days.
